Agenda

Conceptual Architecture
A discussion of the Hadoop Logical Architecture and the 
qualities it presents.

Hadoop Runtime
A discussion of the runtime modes of Hadoop and the basics of 
configuring a Hadoop install, with lab work.

Thinking in MapReduce
An in depth discussion of the MapReduce algorithm and how it is 
implemented by Hadoop.

Hadoop API
A walkthrough of the core developer facing Hadoop API classes 
and interfaces.

MapReduce Patterns
Students are introduced to the most common patterns implemented in 
MapReduce, with an accompanying lab.

Advanced MapReduce
More advance patterns implemented in MapReduce are presented.

Physical Architecture
A discussion on the physical components of a Hadoop cluster when 
running in a distributed deployment.

Cluster Runtime
Students learn how to configure a single node Hadoop cluster and 
execute applications on their local computer.

MapReduce in Practice
A review of all the previous lectures tied in to the implications of 
being fully distributed, with accompanying labwork.

Alternative Interfaces
A high level discussion of Hadoop Stream and Pipes, Pig, Hive, Jaql, 
and Cascading.

Please note some important points:

1. You will need to bring your own laptop for the training. A wireless internet connection will be provided for the hands-on exercises.

2. Your laptop will need to be loaded with some specific software, details of which will be provided to you after registration.

3. Course fees include instructor-led training for allsessions, course-related materials, course-related internet access, morning and afternoon coffee, tea and snacks on both days. Fees do not include any meals, hotel accomodations or other expenses that you might incur.

Changes and cancellations:

Changes: If a registered individual cannot come to the class, he/she may nominate another person to attend as a substitute. An email has to be sent by the currently registered person (from his/her registered email address) to the event organizer as early as possible to accomodate this change. There is no fee for this change. In case there is no substitute, you can also apply the fees to the next class. We regret that we cannot give refunds.

In case the event is rescheduled due to unforseen circumstances, 100% of the fees will be refunded
